Highlights of the September Ranking include:

  • The September ranking shows no movement in the Top 10 Publishers from the August ranking.
  • Total Global Unique Streams and Downloads for the group of Top 10 publishers remained flat for September compared to August.
  • Total Global Downloads and Streams for the Top 10 Publishers for September increased by 76% year-over-year from September of 2016 with NPR, How Stuff Works and American Public Media showing individual gains of 57%, 32% and 28% respectively.

August 2017 - Top Podcast Publishers

Highlights of the August Ranking include:

  • Seven publishers showed gains in U.S. Unique Audience in August over July, with ESPN, PRX and New York Times showing double digit increases.
  • Total Global Unique Streams and Downloads for the group of Top 10 publishers increased 12% for August over July.
  • Total Global Downloads and Streams for the Top 10 Publishers for August increased by 83% year-over-year from August of 2016.

July 2017 - Top Podcast Publishers

Highlights of the July Ranking include:

  • Most (seven out of ten) publishers' audience numbers were relatively flat for July over June.  Those publishers who did increase audience (Wondery, NYT, Radiotopia/PRX) also added shows.
  • Total Global Unique Streams and Downloads for the group of Top 10 publishers increased 4% for July over June.
  • Total Global Downloads and Streams for the Top 10 Publishers for July increased by 60% year-over-year from July of 2016.

Notes:

Radiotopia shows have been combined with PRX shows and are listed as one publisher: PRX.

CBS dropped from the July rankings due to changes in their content management system requiring adjustments to Podtrac measurement implementation.

June 2017 - Top Podcast Publishers

The full June Ranking of the Top 10 Podcast Publishers is now available at Podtrac.com. 

Highlights of the June Ranking include:

  • ESPN debuts at #5 with a Unique U.S. Audience of 3.5 million and Wondery at #7 with a Unique U.S Audience of 2.6 million.
  • Six of the Top 10 for June 2017 were on the ranking for June 2016 and all show increases in U.S. Audience numbers.
  • Total Global Unique Streams and Downloads for the group of Top 10 publishers is up 13% for June (282,324,800) over May (250,700,000).
  • Total Global Downloads and Streams for the Top 10 Publishers increased by 57% from June of 2016.

May 2017 - Top Podcast Publishers

The full May Ranking of the Top 10 Podcast Publishers is now available at Podtrac.com. 

Highlights of the May Ranking include:

  • The Washington Post debuts at #10 with a U.S. Unique Audience of just under 1.4 million.
  • Six of the ten publishers showed increases in their U.S. unique audience over April with three publishers posting double digit gains: HowStuffWorks (48%), Washington Post (28%) and New York Times (18%).
  • Total Global Unique Streams and Downloads for the group of Top 10 publishers is flat for May 2017 (250,700,000) over April 2017 (250,401,000) .

Comparing year-over-year data all six publishers who were on both the May 2016 and May 2017 rankings show double digit year-over-year growth, with HowStuffWorks (71%)  and NPR (63%) showing the biggest gains.
